Statement

My paintings are a reinvention of the different landscapes I have encountered throughout my life. Extracting forms and colors from diverse surroundings, transforming and reinventing the image – these processes propel the progression of my work. Painting brings with it historical and cultural associations. Our present cultural situation is shaped by rapid technological advancement, media that can transport a message within a second the ability to be on another continent within hours. The painting process is in direct opposition to this way of life. The medium contains within it the ability to freeze and hold the movement and impression of the human hand. This disparity makes painting a very exciting endeavor.
